FJU Talents is an annual platform showcasing emerging designers from Taiwan. The platform is sponsored by the Department of Textiles and Clothing, Fu Jen Catholic University (FJU), a leading fashion and textile design education institute based in Taiwan since 1970. FJU Tenants supports and nurtures the institute’s talented alumni into the global fashion scene. Each year, four selected designers are supported by FJU Talents to show their collections at Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week.

CHI-LI WANG / @wu_san___
Majored in Fashion Design, Fu Jen Catholic University, Chi-Li is a current master’s student in FJU. He is talented in applying craftsmanship to clothing to entrust emotions to his collection. Inspired by family love, Chi-Li’s creation presents the texture of family's hard-working hands through solid crystals. Using fabric to express the texture of the skin and kneeling posture to depict the silhouette. The collection conveys the meaning of strong warmth and affection to family.

Majored in Fashion Design, Fu Jen Catholic University, Yen-Yi's collection is inspired by Eastern Zen philosophy. Her design concept reflects the dimension of space in clothing outlines. The inspiration for the collection comes from a documentary on Architect I. M. Pei and Suzhou Museum. A large number of layers are used on her work to express the aesthetics of architectural contours. Using light, shadow, and lines, the collection conveys the beauty of Eastern Zen.

Majored in Textile Design, Fu Jen Catholic University, Yu-Chieh’s collection is inspired by herself, a 150 cm tall girl. Different from the standard view about a ‘MODEL’, she tries to redefine the aesthetics of a 150 cm tall female figure. The concept is to explore the meaning of the wearer she expected. The collection is based on human flaws and weirdness, and it is influenced by manga culture as well. Combining glossy silicone and knits to create a skin-like texture, the collection explores a different perspective of aesthetics for 150 cm tall womenswear.

Majored in Textile Design, Fu Jen Catholic University, Hsiao-Mo believes that diversity, equity, and inclusion is of crucial importance for social progress and development in the future. We must accept that there are differences between people and there’s nothing wrong to be different. The collection is based on ‘Siddhartha’, a novel by Hermann Hesse. Through nomadism, one accumulates experience that represents time and spirit. Using observations on naturals, such as sedimentary rocks and deserts, to create shiny and fluid knitwear. The cutting and details of his collection refined the meaning of the nomadic process.
