Slovak-born, London-based artist and designer Sofia Turekova graduated from Central Saint
Martins in 2021. Her designs have been presented at New York Fashion Week, Victoria & Albert
Museum, and Slovak National Design Museum.
The designer’s practice is driven by broad research ranging between critical theory, historical
sources of craftsmanship, contemporary art influences. Sofia Turekova explores the unique notion
of luxury via a hybrid combination of experimental sculptural approach, innovative 3D draping, and
new narrative design.
With an intricate focus on construction and fabrication, her signature voluminous silhouettes, draw
inspiration from her background of a former folklore dancer.
Her graduate collection ‘(p)Laced’ in which she explores the creative potential of dissapearing and
barely documented craft of traditional Slovak Bobbin Lace-making was recognized by leading
British and International Fashion Magazines and shortly after, The Slovak Fashion Council, whom
she will showcase her latest line with.
