Syuzn Grigoryan’s collection “Negative Space” explores the silent language of absence, the space between garment and body, as a means to express emotion, identity, and cultural memory. Rooted in the Japanese concept of Ma (the beauty of empty space) and inspired by traditional Korean sculptural garments, Syuzn reinterprets these forms through a modular leather system that allows garments to transform and evolve. The designs combine natural Crazy Horse leather with delicate finishes, revealing seams and modules as part of the aesthetic language.
Sustainability is central to her practice. Durable materials, modular construction, and repurposed offcuts reduce waste, support circular design, and extend garment life. Handmade techniques replace industrial mass production, lowering the carbon footprint while emphasizing craftsmanship. Through the interplay of tradition, minimalism, and adaptability, “Negative Space” becomes a wearable study of form, memory, and conscious design, blending artistry with responsible fashion.
