Founded at the brink of a global humanitarian crisis in 2020, focuses on human-centred design to bring home the fact that despite and beyond perceived differences, we are all humans . The ‘human’ beyond any boundaries forms the core of the ergonomics of its products as also the conception and production of collections. With a focus on exploring unfamiliar cultures, Margn brings unconventional staples rendered for the future of humanity. A humanoid shape (akin to the one used in the Margn’s symbol) is used throughout its design to create symbolic patterns that evoke emotions, mirroring the core concept of each collection.

Ever since its inception, Margn has rapidly expanded its community and has been featured in multiple magazines such as GQ, Grazia, and Homegrown, to name a few. The brand was also among the top ten global finalists for Mr Porter Futures, London, 2021.

Collection Statement

With the world on move and displacements becoming more painful than ever, Margn’s SS/FW-22 exemplifies the perilous journeys of immigrants, especially refugees and their trajectories of displacement, their suffering, need, and their courage to keep going on. This collection aims at sparking a conversation on whether borders and divisions precede being human.

Breaking artificial hierarchies and social constructs, a culture is proposed – a culture where humanity precedes
everything. The concept is knitted to clothing through symbolic compositions, humanoid symbols, uniforms of humanity, signature argyle patterns, valves and upcycled water pipes representing the interconnectedness amongst all of us. These ideas are presented alongside a language of sartorial tailoring and redefined knitwear.

The looks speak about protection and love, courage and community. A sense of freedom continues as tailoring and smaller details become messengers. Non-conforming silhouettes and layers are
re-fashioned in the form of backless overshirt, alien-knits, and skirt with loops, taking a rebellious approach towards staples.

Sustaining our belief in working with smaller communities, with this collection, we have continued our partnership with the all women’s community which resides in the northern Himalayas and which has been creating our signature pieces such as argyles and ikats since our inception.

We would like to thank our knitting partners Shivani, Pinky, Shangru, Rupali, Savita, Santosh, Brij rani; our
videography/photography team – Rajat, Prashant, Divik, Nishant, Abhishek, Sonia, Debi; our tailors Indrapal, Vijendra, Ashish, Kishore, our friends Vanashree, Navneet, Ujjwala, Rahul, Somya, our families and community of people who have believed in us throughout.
